The Matamajaw Fishing Heritage Site ("Museum") respects your privacy and is committed to taking the necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information (the "Act").
This document is intended to help you understand how the Museum collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects your personal information. It also applies to FAUCUS Inc., a managing organization that has entrusted the Museum with the collection and processing of personal information necessary for the fulfillment of its mission.
This commitment applies to all activities involving the collection, processing, and storage of personal information, whether used for the benefit of the Museum or FAUCUS Inc.
1. Protection Measures
The Museum has implemented physical, technological, and administrative measures to protect your personal information against accidental loss or unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Here are some examples:
- Physical protection measures: Areas monitored by security cameras, access management to paper documents, documents secured by lock.
- Technological protection measures: Access management to electronic documents and servers, firewall.
- Administrative protection measures: document classification plan, retention schedule.
2. Consent
The Museum only collects and uses personal information with your consent. When a request for consent is made in writing, it is presented distinctly from any other information.
You are free to consent or not consent to the collection of personal information. You can also modify or withdraw your consent at any time. When the collection of personal information is optional, the Museum informs you.
Internet users under the age of 14 must obtain permission from a parent or guardian before submitting personal information to the Museum. Since the technology limits the verification of the exact age of site users, the Museum relies on their good faith to meet this requirement. The Museum does not knowingly collect personal information from internet users under the age of 14 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have collected or received personal information from a child under 14 without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will delete this information.
3. Right of Access and Rectification of Personal Information
You have the right to access the personal information concerning you that you have provided to us.

We will endeavor to promptly process all requests for rectification or removal of personal information.

The Museum collects personal information using its web and software properties, such as its websites or surveys, registration forms. The Museum may also collect personal information through a technological tool at its locations, such as its wifi network or survey kiosks if you use them.
Personal information is defined by the Act as information about an individual that allows, directly or indirectly, their identification. Here are examples of personal information we may collect with your consent:
- Personal identity information, such as first name, last name, gender, date of birth, marital status, education level, affiliation with designated groups (indigenous, visible minorities, ethnic minorities, or disabled persons), and accessibility support needs.
- Personal contact information, such as email address, mailing address, and phone numbers.
- Information about your Museum account, such as purchase history, donations, event participation, and communication preferences.
- Technical personal information, such as internet protocol (IP) address, approximate location, cookies, and other technologies on the devices you use to access the Museum website.
- Internet activity information, such as browsing history, search history, interactions with our website, and engagement rate with our publications.
- Financial information, such as payment method-related information.
- Employment-related information such as curriculum vitae, education or professional references.
When you interact with the Museum's platforms, the IP address associated with your device is automatically collected. The IP address is used to collect information about the operating system and web browser you use, the time and duration of your visit to a platform, your virtual location, and the pages you view.
5. Use of Personal Information
The Museum may use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, in accordance with your consent, or for other purposes authorized by law.

During a financial transaction, the Museum does not retain the payment information you provide. This information is communicated and managed by financial services providers such as Square.

As the Museum has no control over external sites to which certain hyperlinks may direct you, the Museum disclaims all responsibility for the availability and content of these sites. The Museum cannot, under any circumstance, be held responsible for any potential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the material contained on websites linked to it through pointers.
