Matamajaw turns into a Haunted Museum for Halloween 2025

The Matamajaw Heritage Fishing Site invites the public to live a unique experience on October 31st: the very first edition of its Haunted Museum.

This original activity started over a year ago, during our Halloween dinner in 2024. Due to the enthusiasm generated, the Matamajaw team wanted to go further by imagining an immersive theatrical activity, both fun and historical. The goal: to offer an evening where history meets ghosts of the past, in a format accessible to the whole family, as well as reaching a wider audience.

From 5:30 PM, visitors will be invited to wander through the museum in the darkness, guided into a world where the ghosts of significant figures from Matamajaw's history come back to life. Six iconic figures - George Stephen, Lady Charlotte, Richard Adams, Howard Willets, Princess Louise, and Thaddée Duchaine - will haunt the premises to share their stories full of mystery and emotions. The texts have been specially written by the author Jean-Guy Duchaine, and are performed by volunteer actors from the region. This project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the government of Quebec and the MRC de La Matapédia as part of the Cultural Development Agreement.

More than just handing out candies, the Haunted Museum aims to be a cultural and heritage activity with a Halloween twist, where both kids and adults can discover the fascinating history of Matamajaw in a mysterious and festive atmosphere.

Date: October 31, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 9 PM with departures every 20 minutes
